Ruben T. Garcia, Sr.

Ruben T. Garcia, Sr., 84, of Amarillo died May 16, 2022.

Memorial service will be at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Beacon Baptist Church, 417 S. McMasters. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home.

Ruben was born March 4, 1938 in Alamo, TX to Gregorio and Eufema Garcia. He attended Clarendon College and worked as a law enforcement deputy serving multiple counties in the Texas Panhandle and California. He also worked with the Texas Rangers and was a boxer by trade. Ruben married the love of his life, Mary Martha Salas in 1955 and together they spent 61 wonderful years before her death in 2017.

Ruben enjoyed leatherwork, travelling, fishing, and being outdoors. He had a great love for the Lord, his family, and drinking coffee at the coffee shop. He could do anything he put his mind to and was a master of all trades. Ruben loved all animals but especially his dog, Mitzi.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Eufemia Garcia; wife, Mary Garcia; daughter, Janice Garcia; brothers, Raul Garcia, Domingo Garcia, and Baldomero Garcia; and sister, Eva Angelina Garcia.

Ruben is survived by daughters, Nancy Rose (Norman), Molly Reed (James), and Norma Ibarra (Martin) all of Amarillo; son, Ruben Garcia, Jr. of Lubbock; brothers, Alfredo Garcia and Eddie Garcia; grandchildren, Amanda Nelson (Michael), Lori Clark (Karl Stone), Troy D. Clark, III (Jasmine), Jonny Vargas, Jose Vargas, Martin Ibarra, Petra Pope (Cole), Jose Ibarra, Troy Rose, Ruben Rose, Jesusa Moran, and David Garcia; and 18 great-grandchildren.
