Richard was born on August 1, 1960 in Amarillo to Johnny Boy and Mary Ann (Parkhill) Bynum. He liked to think of himself as The Greatest, hence the nickname Richard “The Great”, which is what he called himself. He always had a smile on his face. Richard was a mechanic by trade and by admission of anyone who had their car worked on by, a really good one.

Per his niece Charlee’s own words, “He was one of the closest people to my heart, I’ll never forget him”. Words from his daughter Bonnie, “I can definitely say that I am my Father’s Daughter. So much of who I am from my dad. And I absolutely love it. I’ll always miss our talks about movies we both love or ones we’ve never even heard of. Every day of my life I’ll think of you and tell you how much I love and miss you; and that I know you’re happy up there.”

Richard is preceded in death by his parents Johnny Boy and Mary Ann, sister Kimberly Gail McKibban, brother Terry Lee Bynum; and grandparents Ernest and Rose Parkhill. Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter Bonnie Kathleen Bynum of Baton Rouge, LA, sons Michael Bynum and wife Tiffany of Midland, TX and Brain Haire and wife Mary of Lubbock; his grandchildren Nathaniel Smith, Tristen Bynum, and Lillian and Madison Haire. Richard also leaves behind his beloved nieces Charlee Hickman and husband Terry and Candace Cancino all of Amarillo, nephews Eli McKibban and wife Courtney and Clay McKibban all of Amarillo; six great nieces and two great nephews as well as many other loving family and dear friends.
