Loydene "Deanie" Mitchell

March 31, 1941 — April 16, 2018

Loydene “Deanie” Duncan Mitchell passed from this life on April 16, 2018 at 77 years old.

Loydene was born March 31, 1941 in Leveland, Texas to Joseph and Ida Duncan. She was married at 15 to her one and only, James D. Mitchell whom preceded her in death. Five daughters were blessed to them, or cursed if you think about the “teenage years”. She is survived by daughters; Laura Greer and husband Roy, Terry Stables and husband Richard, Shari Stanford and husband Dale, Rebecca Freeman and significant other, Kelly and Ida Petie Shelton and husband Scott; brothers, Joe Duncan and wife Rebecca of San Angelo, Perry Wilhite and wife Donnell of Crescent City, Florida and Shayne Duncan and wife Debbie of Midland; and sister, Evelyn Rader and husband Tim of Palm Coast, Florida.

Now you can’t have that many daughters without having lots of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great greats. Since they all believe they were her favorite, they are listed by Alphabetical order; Amanda and husband Brent, Ben and significant other, Ariel, Cynthia, Heather and husband Chad, Jenny, Jessi and husband Jeff, Matt and wife Ashley, Misty (deceased), Nick, Sam and wife Teagan.

Great grandchildren in alphabetical order; Bailee, Berklee, Conner, Faith, Jaden, Jayston and wife Ivorie, Jessalynn, Justin, Mariah, Olivia, Ryder, Shelton and Weston; great great-grandchildren, Jasiah, Javious and Jayven (deceased).

Why is it so important to name every name; because Deanie made each one feel like her favorite. One of the smartest women you ever knew, she taught her children, grandchildren, and greats to love adventure, try new things, and love family. She was famous for her cooking and the theme parties she loved to have. She was well loved and had no regrets about her life. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends because she gathered people to her with her wit and sense of humor. Loydene was a great grand lady who always tried to make the best of every situation and look on the bright side. She loved to sparkle and loved clothes with sequins or rhinestones. Her glasses were always unusual and different; she wasn’t afraid of attention and got lots of it. Her refusal to judge and ability to keep secrets made her the confidant of all of the grands. She was the grand dame of our family and her absence will be a void that cannot be filled.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at NWTH for their loving and gentle care of Loydene the last two years of her life. They were amazing. We would also like to thank the staff of Interim Home Health and Kindred Hospice for their ability to give her the peace she needed to make decisions for herself and her care. All of these healthcare professionals were helpful to her, but also to our family as we travelled this road with her. Their kindness will not be forgotten.

Loydene did not believe in funerals for a sad goodbye. Instead she wanted a party to celebrate her life so we invite you to join us and share your favorite Loydene stories at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, April 22, 2018 at Henk’s BBQ on I-40 & Grand.
