Josephine’s journey began on September 9, 1942 in Corpus Christi, Texas when she entered the world.  From the very beginning, her life and the direction it would take would be orchestrated by the hand of God.  Growing up she had a less than joyful childhood but if anything could be said about this remarkable woman it is that she was an overcomer.

Josephine’s life changed for the better at the age of 15 when she married Jose Moreno.  On June 30, 1957 in Brazoria, Texas the couple vowed to care for one another through all times, good and bad and for the next sixty five years and until her death that is exactly what they did.   The couple were not only devoted to one another, but to their seven children. It was their desire to create a loving, close knit home environment.  It was Jose’s duty to provide for the family and it was Josephine’s job to raise and discipline the family.  Josephine was a little rough around the edges, saying “NO” to the children was not a problem!

Although Josephine did not have a formal education she had more knowledge and creativity than many.  She was an excellent seamstress, making all her children’s clothing from patterns she designed and created out of newspaper.  It was her desire that her family, herself included, always dressed impressively.  She had an impeccable work ethic and instilled that in the children.

Throughout her life, Josephine put her faith in God and lived by example.  Although she was plagued with health issues she consistently put others needs before her own.  She lived sacrificially and the love of Christ shone brightly through her.  She exemplified the love of Christ by exhibiting unconditional love, forgiveness and grace to all of those around her.  Much like iron sharpened by iron, God fashioned Josephine into a strong, resilient woman whose husband and children would rise up and call her blessed. Josephine helped others become better people and the world is a much better place because she was in it

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Paula and Mary Rodriguez; and by her brothers, Antonio and Leo Rodriguez.

Josephine is survived by her beloved husband, Jose; her five daughters, Sylvia Maldonado and her husband Spike of Amarillo, Helen Barreras and her husband Michael of Albuquerque, Paula Richardson and her husband Jackie of Amarillo, Gloria Moreno and her fiancé David Poer of Amarillo, and Shirley Constancio and her husband Richard of Amarillo; her two sons, Joseph Max Moreno and his wife Laurie of Hudson, Ohio and Michael Moreno of Amarillo; her seventeen precious grandchildren, Joy Garcia, Janae McMellon, Jocelyn Gutierrez, Tiffany Cranford, Kelly Hilliard Jr., Josh Floyd, Jarrett Schaef, Zach Constancio, Brittany Constancio, Roman Moreno, Coleman Moreno, Michaela Bowers, Brielle Breezy Moreno, Mariah Moreno, Amariyah Moreno, Mickey Moreno Jr., and Ella Moreno; by her ten great grandchildren, Yuriah, Judah, Caleb, Nehemiah, Azariah, Victory Joy, Chasey, Kennedy, Stella Blue and Lyla.
