John “Roy” Albritton, 71, of Amarillo passed from this life into the glory of God the Father on Thursday, December 23, 2021.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 4pm to 6pm in the Angel Funeral Home located at 2209 S. Arthur in Amarillo. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 2pm in the funeral home’s Chapel of Angels with Travis Bennett presiding. Burial will be private.
Roy was born February 2, 1950 in Amarillo, Texas to James David and Mary Ruby (Land) Albritton. He was a 1969 graduate of Palo Duro High School and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout from the Boy Scouts of America. On November 24, 1972, he married his beloved Linda Ruth Hewett. Together, they built a family that remained dear to his heart until his passing. Roy was a laborer by trade and worked for Valley Protein of Amarillo for many years.
Roy was steadfast in his faith and in recent years became very involved in what God had laid on his heart. He and Linda attended St. Stephen’s United Methodist Church as often as they could.
Roy is preceded in death by his parents David and Mary, Daughter Beverly Jo Ann Albritton, Sister Josephine Cowart, brother Billy Ray Albritton; and numerous Aunts and Uncles. Those left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife Linda, his children Angel Roberts and husband Ben, Candy Greening and husband Chad, Becky Albritton and wife Kimberly; and his grandchildren Gage, Willie, Jade, Corbyn, and Blakely. Roy leaves behind his brothers Paul and Robert Albritton, sisters Pauline Logdstone, Ruby Foster, and Ruth Goodson. Roy was blessed with an extended family that he loved as his own. They include James Hewett and his four sons, Amanda Kimball and son Bryce, and Ella and Joey Armendarez and their daughter Augustina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
