Graciela (Gracie) Valdez Garcia

Graciela Garcia, 71, of Amarillo died November 25, 2020.

Memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020 at Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St. Arrangements by Angel Funeral Home.

Graciela V. Garcia born May 12, 1949 in Raymondville, Texas. As a child, Graciela grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. To her family and friends, she was known as Chela, Graciela was the oldest of four and as a young adult, she soon met and later married Jose Garcia in 1972 and as much as she loved the Rio Grande Valley, Jose and Graciela moved to Hereford Texas where they raised 6 children.

Graciela worked for many years at Pizza Hut, then after the loss of her love Jose in 1990, she started working at Kings Manor nursing home, where she loved the patients. A hard worker and a strong-willed parent, Graciela made sure her children never did with out and all graduated. Graciela was proud of all of her children and grandchildren. Graciela later took the leap and moved to Amarillo and worked for many years at Chick-Fil-A. Graciela loved going to live music dances, going out to eat and also enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. Even though her children were grown, Graciela always wanted to help them in any situation and wanted to always protect them.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose B. Garcia; mother, Maria Valdez; father, Alfonso Valdez; brother, Alfonso Valdez Jr.; and her daughter, Chriselda Garcia.

Graciela is survived by sisters, Alicia Luna and Rosalinda Valdez Garza; sons, Daniel V. Garcia and Jose Garcia Jr. IV; daughters, Valarie Ann Garcia, Marisol Garcia and Maricela Garcia Quintanilla; grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
